18 anglers contested the latest Waterbeach open, out in front was Vinnie Easy fishing pellet and paste from peg 14 in the margins to record an impressive 118lb-4oz the first weight over the ton this year.
In second was Mike Whittaker who made the journey from Norwich worthwhile to amass 95lb-8oz fishing pellet up in the water on peg29. In third place was John Belsher with 89lb-14oz fishing pellet in the margins.
Fourth was Simon Easy with 85lb-8oz. There were ten weights over 40lb which is an impressive return so early in the year.

Pleasure angler Jim Borg couldn't believe his luck when he fished Waterbeach AC's Atkins Water catching 19 Tench to 3lb,12 bream to 4lb, 7 Crucian carp, 18 Rudd and roach including 4 roach over the pound mark and a few carp for good measure. "the best day's fishing of my life" said Jim.

In the second Waterbeach open on Magpie Lake

Brian Lee on peg no1 had 22 fish to amass 82lb-6oz fishing in the margins on both pellet and corn.

Val Coleman fished the 13m line and down the main track on 6mm pellet to grab second place with 69lb-10oz.

A few fish behind was Matt Ayres who fished the margins on pellet and paste for 58lb-6oz and 3rd place.

In the first match since restocking

Waterbeach AC's Magpie Lake, Vic German took the honours with 26 carp to 5lb all falling to corn and pellet from peg 11. Vic fished a 7 meter line and 13 m across to the far bank to record a superb 92lb 12oz for a emphatic victory.

Colin Edwards draw on golden peg 1 also fished far bank and margins to record a well earned 74lb 8oz for second place again on corn and pellet. John Pratt fishing 6mm pellet on the far bank finished third with 43lb 8oz including some of the new stock fish.

Result: 1st Vic German (Chestnut Pool) 92-12, 2nd Colin Edwards (Coopers Tackle) 74-8, 3rd John Pratt (Lawn Farm) 43-8, 4th Chris Warrington (Cambridge) 40-4.
